Aspen and Birch Trees are one of my favorite subject matters to paint! I love their dramatic black and white trunks, with leaves that turn such wonderful colors in the fall! Aspen paintings and Birch tree paintings are also a ton of fun to create! I like to sculpt the paint on very thickly with a palette knife--giving the trees a real life-like texture. The aspen trunks actually feel like bark to the touch! The 'no touching' rule does not apply to my work! Adding this tactile dimension makes my paintings unique and interesting!
